We have volunteered to drop off a Meals that Heal Dinner at the Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center Shelter for up to 25 women and 25 children. It has been a few years since we have done this activity. The food needs to be prepared off-site and dropped off between 4:30 and 5:00 PM (West Side) on Sunday, June 11. We need a Rotarian to volunteer their kitchen and several volunteers to prep the meal on Sunday afternoon. |

One of our Community Grant Recipients for the last four years, Love Cleveland, holds one of their biggest programs, SummerFest on Sunday, August 6 at Brush High School. Wear your Rotary Shirt and help out with their program. In case of Rain, SummerFest will be held at Wesler Gym. Many children in America live at or below the federal poverty line. The result is many parents, especially single mothers, do not have the financial resources to relax and have fun with their kids without financial pressure. Nor do they have the resources to prepare their children to go back to school. Each August, Love Cleveland® does an event called “SummerFest” that provides parents and children a time to simply come and enjoy themselves as a family with no financial pressure. This is a great day for children because we provide free food, inflatables, face paint, games, as well as characters like: Mickey Mouse, Elmo, Batman, Cookie Monster, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Captain Jack, and more. We also provide free backpacks, school supplies, as well as clothes and shoes for children who need them. This event has been featured on WKYC and WEWS Cleveland.  http://lovecleveland.org/ |

At long last here is your invitation to join us on Saturday Sept 30th for an afternoon of bocce and an evening of dining at Angelo's Nido Italia Restaurant in beautiful Little Italy. For those of you who have never played bocce, do not worry, this is a game for all skill levels and you will catch on immediately with about (2) minutes of instruction. The game is played between (2) teams of (2) or (4) players per court; there are (3) courts. We will have room for 24 players. If you would just like to watch and socialize (read drink) that's OK too. If you can only make bocce or can only come for dinner after, that's OK too. We will probably have a reservation for dinner at 5:15. Please bring your favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage to enjoy while playing. If you would like to bring a small happy-tizer to share that would be fine but please don't feel obligated because I've never really seen a small plate of food come out of Nido's kitchen. I have attached a small map because parking is a bit sketchy and East 125th street is one way the wrong way off of Mayfield so you have to go down Murray Hill Rd and double back. There is limited parking behind Alta House, in Primo Vino's old lot as indicated by the red stars, and street parking on Fairview Ave and E 125th. If you will not be attending BOTH bocce and dinner please indicate which portion you will attend in the comments section. Please RSVP BY 9/19!! Questions? Call me at 2167803166 or email me at stonecut@sbcglobal.net Regards, Mike |
